Tic-tac-toe as a daily puzzle
Ordinary tic-tac-toe ends in a draw the moment both players know what they're doing. The daily puzzle flips that: you're dropped into a mid-game position where exactly one move forces a win against a perfect opponent, and everything else lets the game slip away. Every past day's board is collected here, so pick a date from the calendar to try the position that ran that day.
How the archive works
Each day has one board that counts, identical for every player, and solving it while the day is live is what feeds your streak and fewest-moves records. Archive boards affect neither. Fail one, reset it, and try again until the forcing line clicks.
Learning to see the fork
Nearly every winning tic-tac-toe puzzle comes down to the same idea: create two threats at once, because your opponent can only block one. Spotting where a fork can be built, and which of your moves the opponent is forced to answer, is the whole skill. A run through the archive is a compact course in double-threat thinking that carries over to bigger games, from Connect Four to chess tactics.
