Wordle Hard Mode

Every hint counts. Keep your greens, reuse your yellows.

Free unlimited rounds. No signup. Your daily streak stays separate.

How to play Wordle Hard Mode

Find a five-letter word in six guesses. The colours work like regular Wordle, but each new guess must use the clues you have already found.

  • Green: keep that letter in exactly the same position.
  • Yellow: include that letter somewhere in your next guess.
  • Repeated letters: if two copies have been revealed in green or yellow, your next guess must include both.

A guess that breaks a revealed clue is rejected without using a turn. Grey letters are not forbidden: this mode enforces the positive clues, rather than requiring every guess to be a possible answer.

What makes Hard Mode different?

In regular Wordle you can try an unrelated word to test new letters. Here, if your opening word reveals a green R in the second position, every later guess needs R in that position. You have to gather new information while keeping what you know.

Unlimited practice, separate from your daily game

Each round uses the same curated answer pool as Tapbreak's regular Wordle. Finish a round and choose Play again for another word. An unfinished Hard Mode round is saved in this browser; it does not replace your regular game or change your daily streak.
