How to play 6-letter Wordle
Guess the hidden 6-letter English word in six attempts. Type a word and press Enter, or use the on-screen keyboard. Every guess must be in our dictionary.
- Green: the letter is in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter appears elsewhere in the answer.
- Grey: the answer has no remaining copies of that letter. Repeated letters can have different colours.
One extra letter changes the puzzle
Six-letter Wordle gives you more positions to investigate without adding extra guesses. Start with a word such as PLANET or STREAM to test six different letters. Then look for familiar pairs and endings that fit the colours.
Repeated letters are common in longer words: LETTER has two Es and two Ts. Do not rule out a second copy simply because you found the first. Test it when the remaining positions suggest it.
Unlimited rounds, your own pace
Our 6-letter answer pool contains 1,975 words, selected using word-list membership and subtitle frequency, with profanity and simple -s plurals filtered out. The accepted guess list is broader than the answer pool. This is Tapbreak's own list, independent of The New York Times.
